Paradise Galleries Azuquita commemorates the festive tradition of Día de Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, which is highly celebrated in Mexico and Latin America. This unique celebration is a time of remembrance where families pay homage to prayers, and food offerings, and create altars decorated with candles and marigolds for the departed beloved.
On the days and nights of Día de Los Muertos, families wear skull masks (called ‘Calaveras’ in Spanish) or paint their faces like skulls in vibrant colors. Our lovely realistic toddler girl doll wears a traditional face painting called La Calavera Catrina, or “the elegant skull” with hand-painted eyes designed by Mexico based reborn doll artist, Mayra Garza. Wearing a yellow onesie with floral embroidery, puffy sleeves, and blue lace around leg openings, Azuquita’s ensemble honors the customs, symbols, and rituals often seen throughout this holiday.
During this joyous time of celebration, may Azuquita fill your heart with peace, love, and happiness.
